Local ecology
David Ritz has worked for decades to protect and preserve the ecology of the Florida Keys as the area has become more developed. Among his many accomplishments include his work as the CEO of the North Key Largo Utility Corp. and a long time board member of the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority, where he oversaw several upgrades to its capacity and reach, enabling the elimination of septic tanks and cesspits improving drinking water quality and protecting the nearby coral reef.
As a community administrator, he was instrumental in identifying the incursion of hyper-saline water from the FPL Turkey Point nuclear generating station’s cooling canals into local ground water, and worked tirelessly to ensure that his community’s management plan protected the nearby National Marine Sanctuary.
David Ritz is an acknowledged expert in the area of balancing development and ecological protection, and is committed to protecting the Keys by continuing to push for ecologically sensitive development.
